Annual Volunteer's Gathering and Community Meeting

Prior to our September Community meeting, WVM Board Chairman Peter kicked off our Annual Volunteer’s gathering with a lively presentation based on Brian Tracey’s book “Maximum Achievement.” We then reviewed the Foundation’s general vision and goals, and looked at our specific targets for school year 2010-2011. The main emphasis will be on developing our 3 projects, with the coordination of our Acts Revival participants supported by a group of Core Volunteers. Key questions put to attendees were, “Where do you see yourself in relation to WVM’s Vision and Goals?” And “How much time, energy, and resources are you willing to invest in order to help achieve them together?”

Four of our volunteers (below) Yolanda, Ewa, Maja, and Paulina lead the singing at the start of the September Community Meeting. With an extra large turnout of volunteers present, most of the attendees from our “Families in Crisis” group were able to find a sympathetic listening ear to share their struggles with. A few examples are pictured below. (l-r) Magda, who recently underwent an operation to remove a cancerous tumor; Svetlana, who in spite of the trauma of having 2 severely ill children, manages a smile; Single mum Gosia with baby Wojtek relates her current challenges to volunteers; Anna, sharing a new factor and appealing for urgent help in her difficult family situation.Other aspects of the Community Meeting pictured below are: Tables of donated clothes and other goods; Ben serving refreshments to all; Food distribution to needy families.
