New Ways in a New Year

WVM’s first Community Meeting of 2012 took place on January 22^nd at the beautiful new “International Community Center” at Pulawska 326 in Warsaw. The theme of the meeting was “New Ways for a New Year,” and the new location was ideal for the event.

Joanna and Mike greet the attendees upon arrival. Including 20 volunteers from our host partners “International Christian Fellowship,” we were around 100 participants in all for a great kick-off occasion.

Before commencing the main program, drinks and snacks were served to all, while members of WVM’s “Families in Crisis” project selected from the recently donated good quality clothing.The meeting was also a good opportunity to distribute the remainder of the unclaimed Christmas presents to grateful children who had been sick or away in December.

Mike and Joanna present a challenging message related to making the necessary changes for 2012 to be a better year than any previously. Based on the thought that our main problem is often “doing nothing about our main problem,” a faith-based view was shared on how to tackle and overcome our main obstacles. Meanwhile excellent childcare was provided by ICF volunteers.

Thanks to the assistance of our friends at the Food Bank Foundation, and also the generosity of some local supermarkets, a nice variety of groceries were available for all families in need. Andrzej, Anna, and other volunteers made sure that no one was overlooked. All in all, a really great team effort!
